Shopping for your Wedding Dress at Nero e Bianco
Shopping for your wedding dress is a momentous occasion. Emotions can be heightened and there can be many tears, but it’s one of the most important stages in any bride-to-be’s wedding planning journey. Our bridal boutique at Barton Marina is a hidden gem; tucked away quietly just off the A38 at Barton Turn, you’ll find a tranquil setting of wildlife, dog walkers and coffee shops, as well as an independent cinema and bistro pub – so you can really make a day of it when you come to visit us.
On the ground floor of Nero e Bianco, you’ll find casual shoes and accessories. Upstairs greets you with ladieswear, and in a separated area of the store is our bridal boutique, complete with other occasionwear fit for mother-of-the-bride amongst other guests.
Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions that can give you a little bit of an insight into Nero e Bianco Bridal before you pay us a visit…
“Should I make an appointment, or can I just drop in if I’m passing by?”
We recommend you book an appointment with us, so that our dedicated Bridal Coordinator can ensure she sets aside enough time to cater to your needs on a one-to-one basis. However, if you are passing by, do feel free to stop by. If we don’t have a bride in store at the time, we will be more than happy to let you browse our dresses with the view to booking a try-on appointment in the future.
“I have had a bad experience in previous bridal shops I have been in. How can you help me relax?”
We’re sorry you have had a bad experience beforehand; no bride-to-be should ever be made to feel like anything less than a princess. We have refreshments – including prosecco – on hand to help you feel relaxed, as well as the knowledge that you have the entire bridal boutique to yourself. We aim to make all of our brides feel as comfortable as possible.
“What if I don’t like anything?”
Every shop is different. We all have different styles and price ranges, so it goes without saying that some things may not suit your taste. You can take a look at our Bridal Lookbook to get a sense of what we offer here at Nero e Bianco, and if you like what you see enough to make an appointment, that’s great. If, when you visit us, you don’t like anything you try on, then please don’t be afraid to let our bridal coordinator know; she may be able to advise you of a new stock delivery that will have your dream dress arriving into our store soon…
“What shall I wear to the appointment?”
If you already have your bridal underwear, we suggest you bring that along to the appointment. Nude or white briefs are recommended, however don’t worry too much about a bra, as you will most likely be taking it on and off throughout the appointment. If you are anxious about getting undressed in front of a member of staff, just let us know and we will happily step outside of the dressing room, and pop back in to fasten the dress.
“I want to lose weight before my wedding day. When is the best time to try on dresses?”
This will depend on the amount of weight you wish to lose. If you’re planning on dropping more than two dress sizes, we suggest that you wait until you are closer to your goal before visiting us, as dresses can look completely different on varying body shapes. Please bear in mind that once your dress is ordered, it can take anything up to six months to arrive in store and there may still be alterations needed to be made, so we suggest you don’t leave it until the last minute.
“I’ve found my dress! What next?”
Congratulations – you’ve found your dress! We will take a 50% deposit on the day to secure your sale, and your measurements will be sent to the designer to start preparing your dress. We will require full payment within one month of placing your deposit. Once your 50% deposit has been taken, this means the sale is final and we cannot offer any refunds if you change your mind. If you’d rather have some time to think about it before you secure the sale, that is fine, however please be aware that wedding dress designers may decide to increase their prices throughout the year, or even discontinue a style, so if you have found your dream gown, the best thing to do is secure it to avoid disappointment.
Once your dress has been delivered, our seamstress will be available to many any other necessary amendments, which is all done in store. You are more than welcome to take your dress away whenever you like, or we can store it here at Nero e Bianco free of charge.
